And now, the bathroom! Let's take a look see back at the shudder worthy before pictures.
Remember the exposed under the sink clutter?
The brass fixtures? The mirror with scratched glazing?
Oh yeah, and the rotted hole in the wall and rusty heat unit? Well, they are all no more! We couldn't do a complete overhaul because 1. the bathroom is teeny tiny and normal fixtures would not fit in this pint sized space, and 2. this is not our forever house, we only plan to rent the roost for a couple of years. Even so, things are looking pretty good.
First, I made an easy peasy no-sew sink skirt out of dish towels.
Then, Brad worked a little magic and turned the brass light fixtures a lovely brushed nickle.
I turned a couple of extra dish towel into hand towels with the help of some clip art and iron on transfer paper.
To fix the mirror issue, I painted a five dollar mirror from Wally World white, and used some sage ribbon to hang it in front of the built in mirror. Note: I still want to clean up the sink area a bit. I'm on the look out for a carafe to hold the mouthwash, and I want to try some bar keeper's friend to shine things up a bit.
I just used plain printer paper to cover up the old mirror.
My dad tore out the rotting wainscoting and Sheetrock, (you don't even want to KNOW what it looked like back there!) patched the wall, and added new new bead board. He also found some high heat white spray paint to give our base board heat new life.
I love it! I feel like the bathroom has gone from truck stop to spa!
Thanks to my dad and Brad for working on the hard parts!

It really is a transformation. :) I love the skirt on the sink and the "new" light fixtures. It looks wonderful...much better than my bath! Visiting from Kimba's party. :)
Fantastic-o! Bright, light and clean! I think I'll be heading back to your tutorial on the no sew sink skirt for one of my own projects... I don't understand what you mean though when you say you used printer paper on the mirror. Do you mean you used it as a barrier/cushion underneath the new mirror you hung up?
Looks none too shabby- just chic!
You did a great job. You should be proud!!
XOXO-
Tracy,
Thanks! The new mirror is smaller than the built in mirror, so when I hung up the new mirror you could still see the edges of the old one. I thought it looked kind of distracting, so I just covered the old mirror with plain white paper and hung the new one on top. Hope that explains things :-)
Okay, that makes sense. Wow- it looks so much like part of the frame in that pic that I couldn't tell where the paper was. It just makes the frame look larger- nice. :)
Great job! Your landlord is going to love you for putting up that bead board! It really looks lovely now.
this is looking great!
You did a fabulous job! What a transformation. LOVE that cute sink skirt!

Oh my... I did the same sink cover up for my small guest bathroom. It sure is nice to have the extra "discreet" storage, right? I will be sharing mine this coming Monday... but I posted a little teaser just the other day. Please stop by... I just started blogging and would love to see another smiling face!
Love it! Affordable and adorable? It doesn't get any better than that!
Big time transformation! Looks so much better. Love the beadboard. :)
Bar Keepers Friend works wonders!! Your bathroom looks way better!!
i think the bathroom makeover is fantastic!!
Oh wow - what a big difference! How much did it cost all together - sounds like it was very frugal. Great job!
It looks lovely, the new mirror and beadboard are gorgeous.
