I have a DIY Day treat for y’all. My sister agreed to let me show off her Bohemian bedroom transformation. I don’t have a true “before” shot, but just imagine an entire bedroom full of furniture painted like this:
Poor Hannah has shared a bedroom for almost her whole life. It wasn’t until I married Brad and moved out for good that she truly got to experience a room of her own. With the help of our mom and dad, some paint, and several productive trips to thrift stores and IKEA, Hannah turned her room from 90’s pink to BoHo chic.
The first step was painting a focal wall a punchy spring green. All the trim in the room also got a coat of this fun color.
It perfectly matched the green in her IKEA duvet cover. I think our mom actually had it color matched at Home Depot.
To pick up the hot pink and orange flowers in the duvet, Hannah added splashes of color all over the room. This cool magnetic message board is actually a spray painted cookie sheet.
A few old cigar boxes and canning jars keep her art supplies corralled in vintage style.
A few coats of white paint really freshened up our old desk. Hannah uses cute reusable shopping bags to hold her knitting supplies and keep them easily portable.
There’s the little owl I made her for her birthday!
Our dad made the beautiful large bookcase.
I love how Hannah arranged books and our Grandmother’s souvenir shoes on top of the bookcase.
Here's Hannah’s cozy cat bed – I mean reading nook. The two family cats really do think the cushions belong to them. The window seat is really an IKEA coffee table Brad and I bought when we were first married. After my Dad found us the card catalogue to use as an entertainment center, we passed the coffee table on to Hannah.
Our mom made the lovely window treatment. Some of that gorgeous orange bamboo fabric is headed my way for a new seat cushion on my desk chair.
Hannah has a corner of party lanterns wired as lights. They cast a very pretty soft glow in the room at night.
The dresser is second hand and also received a few coats of white paint.
A final shot to show you the cute little round IKEA rugs that finish the space off with a little comfy fun.
I hope you enjoyed the tour of my sister’s room redo, and a big thank you to her for letting me show it off! I'm sure she'd love to know your favorite part!
