Care to Counter?

Since it’s fun to spend cold winter days dreaming, let’s do a little countertop wishing.

Brad and I have lovely white cabinets and laminate counters in the roost.
I think they look pretty good, and they’ve held up well so far. But. When we build (one day. In the far future), I’d love to have beautiful white cabinets and a higher grade countertop. I’m torn between a few options - luckily, I have lots of time to choose!
Have you seen the new corian private collection? I really like the look of rain cloud. Pretty close to marble, yes? If anyone has these, please let me know what you think of them!
I also really like butcher block. I think I will definitely use it for my island, but I’m not sure I want to commit to using it for all the counters as well.

So, spill the beans! What kind of counters do you have? Do you like them? If you could have dream countertops what kind would you pick? I can’t wait to hear what you think!

I have formica that looks like granite. Kind of. The men I know all think it's granite, except my hubs. He can tell it's cheap and wants to gut it lol. Go figure. I married a man with superb taste. Why I dislike it? It scratches real easily. Boo.And I am a lady who likes to whip it up in the kitchen.

I have the same picture of butcher block counter tops in my "house ideas" folder! I love the idea of doing it as an island, but I'm thinking Brazilian Slate for our counters.

I have always despised tile countertops, because I grew up with them and the grout is really annoying to keep clean. HOWEVER, this weekend I was in the tile store, and I saw a beautiful slate gray tile countertop- they had used large tiles and made the grout lines itty bitty, so it really mimicked the look of a solid surface, and for a fraction of the price! It's really popular right now to mix surfaces- butcher block on an island, a marble piece for rolling out dough, etc. I love solid surface but I'm not sure it's worth THAT much money. I'll keep you posted on what I choose, as I'll have all new counters in about a month!
